Touching the Heart of God

God is not touched by our accomplishments,

By our efforts to impress Him in spectacular array.

God is not touched by our abilities, but rather our inabilities.

God is not touched by our successes, but our failures;

Not touched by our strength, but by our weaknesses.

Man ultimately Fails in his effort to touch the Heart of God,

But it is when he is without strength, when failures have flattened him;

In the midst of suffering, of facing heartbreak and sorrow;

When the clouds of despair seem to be closing all around;

It is when he does Not feel that he can touch Anybody’s heart, much less the Heart of God;

It is amidst the cry of an aching heart,

Of the inward groaning of the soul of man. . .

That the Heart of God is touched.

He is “touched with the feeling of our infirmities” Heb. 4:15.
