My Scrapbook

Fellowship is found in followship.

The price of fellowship is followship.

But then, why would one followship,

Unless he was in fellowship?

Then does it not follow, that a fellow,

Will not have followship without fellowship,

Nor fellowship without followship!

Dear Lord,

I fear I have a heart problem.

I find there are times when it races ahead of you;

that it desires to function independently of your strength;

times when it wills to operate as it pleases,

without your guidance.

If I am not careful, I soon find it to be self-willed and prideful.

I often find it deficient of those elements that are necessary

for its proper rhythm:

love joy peace, goodness, faith, meekness . . .

O God! Might you possibly implant something in my heart to regulate it;

that it may be conformed to your desire and will for my life?

Do you have a Peacemaker so designed to work in my heart?

Or is the Peacemaker already there,

and I am ignoring His presence and His desire

to be all that I need, even at this moment!

On studying the Bible:

Read it, Research it, Reason it,

Rehearse it, Review it, Reverence it,

Rely upon it, Respond to it,

Rejoice in it, be Refreshed in it,

Reach others with its Report.

The Bible is the

Everlasting Will and Testament

of our Lord Jesus Christ

His heel was bruised, that

our bruises might be healed.

Adam was driven forth from the garden of Eden,

lest he partake of the Tree of Life and live forever.

The Tree of Life was planted on the hill of Calvary,

that men, being drawn to it,

might partake of its fruit and live forever.

In rejecting the Lord Jesus the multitude:

Pierced His brow,

They pierced His hands,

They pierced His feet,

They pierced His side;

But most of all,

They pierced His heart.

Man never perceives the value of light,

Until he has known the darkness.

He never comprehends the treasure of Righteousness,

until he has known sin.

Not until he becomes spiritually starved,

Does he know the joy of feasting upon

The Bread of Life.

Not until his palate is parched with thirst,

Does he know the refreshment from the

Fountain of Living Waters.

Adam and Eve, who had only known righteousness,

Partook of the fruit of the tree of the

Knowledge of good and evil and came to know sin.

I, who had only known sin,

Partook of the fruit of the tree of Calvary,

And came to know Righteousness.

Ye are not under the law, but under Grace.

Where then is the law to be found?

It is inside the Ark of the Covenant.

It is under the Mercy Seat.

It is under the blood.

It is safe; it is unbroken, and shall remain so.

If the breaking of the tablets of stone show forth

man’s disobedience in breaking the law,

shall not the obedience of One show forth

the fulfilling of the law:

hence the preserving of the second set of tablets of the law?

Where then is Grace to be found?

He is sitting between the cherubim;

above the Mercy Seat.

Ought not the heart of man be found

as the residence of the God of all grace?

Shall we not look for the day when our hearts truly become

as the Ark of the Covenant;

that they contain the unbroken law of God?

Two friends met perchance, not having seen each other for several months. Upon conversing for a few moments, one friend asked the other: “How’s your dad?”

“Oh, he’s fine!”

“Wasn’t he in a rest home when last we talked?”

“Yes, but he has since moved to another.”

“Is he happy there? Is he well cared for?’

“Happy? Oh yes; and he’s receiving the best of care.”

“What’s the name of the home where he’s resident?”

“It’s called Haven of Rest.”

“Oh, that’s a pretty name! In what city is it located?”

“The New Jerusalem!”

Faith does not shield us from the episodes that wound us,

or the failures that flatten us in despair;

But Faith is capable of embracing suffering and despair

and molding and maneuvering them into instruments

that mature us and make us more sensitive to the hurt

of others even while we learn how to more graciously

accept the difficulties and hardships of this life.

Faith is not God agreeing with man, but man agreeing with God.

Faith does not originate with man, it originates with God.

Faith is God’s will revealed to man; not man’s will revealed to God.

When we do not see an apparent answer to a problem or question,

we begin to rationalize; we look at the circumstances: from the

circumstances we reach a conclusion based upon an assumption.

The Anointed One

The women came very early, while it was yet dark;

But the Father, who never slumbers or sleeps,

Had already been there.

They came with spices to anoint Him,

But the Anointed One had Himself, as High Priest,

Entered the Holiest Place before the Mercy Seat,

And cast sweet-smelling incense upon the fire;

And a cloud of fragrance filled the House.

They came to anoint His dead body;

But the Father had already anointed His body

With the Abundance of Life.

That morning as the sun of the heavens rose

from the East, it discovered that the Son of

Heaven had already risen: Jesus, the Light

Of the world!

Christ is come unto us, that we might come unto Him.

In Matthew chapter 14 Jesus was up on a mountain in prayer. He came forth from the mountain to a ship that was being tossed upon the sea; to deliver those disciples onboard. Our Lord came down from Mount Zion; came unto those men whose lives were in peril; tossed by waves, blown about by the wind. But I would suppose that as He came walking on the sea, that the waves bowed before His feet in submission (unlike the sea of men who as violent waves, did continuously rise up against Him.)

The disciples desired to bring their vessel into a haven of safety. But if one cannot presently bring the ship into harbor, he can allow the Haven of Rest on board the ship: even if the storm remains without, Peace may be found within!
